Pioneer Red and Tan Quilt

Red and Tan Triangles!

I was inspired to do this when I went to Deseret Book and saw the neat pioneer age quilts they sell there. They were all red and tan.

 

It feels very homey.

 

I hand stitched it so it would feel more pioneer period.

My goal was to do one row a night while I watched TV with my husband. :o)

Now he REAlly thinks all I do is sew....

 

 

Summer Fun by the Quilt Company

 

This quilt has been so fun!! that's why it's called "Summer Fun"

 

It was a block of the month pattern by the Quilt Company. My friends and I took about 3 years to finish it. It's very detailed.

 

Each block was just such a pleasure to fuss over....

 

the ice cream block!

 

the strawberry block is to die for...

 

fireworks...and a 3d pinwheel

 

I quilted little flowers into it.

 

if you look close you can see the little flowers I quilted into it here.

I'll bet there are others out there who haven't finished there's yet either. haha

Off the Rails with Hop, Skip, Jump fabric

This pattern is called "Off the Rails"

I really fell for the bright colors.

I used American Jane's Hop, Skip, and a Jump fabric.

I so love this fabric! 

 

 

finding fabric for the centers was so hard! I searched and searched...

This one is green.

 

this one is yellow rings.

 

There's also an orange dot.

 

 

Grandma's Quilt

 

This is a version of a quilt someone called

"Grandma's quilt"

 

I did it years ago with a light green background and red corners in the squares. It's delightful.

I wanted to do one in civil war colors. It really feels pioneerish to me.

the original was done with light yellow background and red corner squares. It was so dang cute.

Try one! Here it is in green.

 

 

It's a simple idea. I neglected to take pictures as I went, so this cropping will have to do. ;o)

You make a sixteen patch block. the squares are about 1 1/8" finished. This one have some variation in the background fabrics to make it more scrappy, but just all solids is fantastic too.

 

Then you just put a triangle in all the corners of a plain background square.

(There are always threads stuck to my quilts, no matter what I do....

I see a stupid green thread in this picture.

Too much sewing going on around here I guess...)

 

 

Then sew every other one together.... 

This is one of those borders that you have to make in squares to complete the pattern with the triangle corners....

 

 

The Ghastlies

The Ghastlies!

Since it's Halloween time, i'll share this quilt top. I haven't gotten around to quilting it yet, but so far...

this is a fabric line from a few years ago. 

I didn't intend to make it this big, but each and every "photo" on the wall is so much fun!

I tried to make them sort of photos hanging on a wallpapered wall.

I love them sitting down to dinner at the dining table.

the hammer... could you die?

of course, this one is great. the sewing circle...

i think the mouse border adds just the right touch.

I have some bugs on spider webs for the backing but i just haven't gotten around to quilting this yet!

Cherry Pie by Joanna Figueroa Fig Tree

 

I finally finished this cherry quilt!! I did it because I wanted to try the neat quilting I saw done on Fig Tree's "Cherry Pie quilt pattern."  

 

Mine isn't as good as theirs, but still...

 

It took sooo long to quilt. but I just kept telling myself, this is what I did this for, it doesn't matter how long it takes. I dulled my quilting machine knife blade from all the stopping and starting and I had to had it serviced in the middle of the project, but hey...

 

This isn't her exact pattern, I sorta did my own thing. ;o)

Quilts for Friends!

 

                                               I made this hexie quilt for a baby gift.
                                  

                      I wanted to do something different so I used some eyelet and ric rac on the border.

 

 

 

 

JEEP Quilt!

My friend Denise made this quilt for her son who loves jeeps.

she had me quilt it for her.

 

In trying to think what I could do thematically on the top and bottom borders, which were plain at the time, I thought... wouldn't tire tread be fun?

I ended up asking her if I could appliques some black tire tread on it instead of just quilting...

 

It turned out really fun!!

 

 

2 days later, I saw this while I was in traffic! Hey, I recognize that! I thought that was fun!
