Hexie Quilt

Large Hexagon Quilt!

My tips on how to do a hexie quilt.
I lay the hexies out on a bed sheet so I can organize the whole thing. Then I can roll it up in between sewing sessions. That way I don't have to rearrange every time I get it out.
Sew together first in rows, then sew the columns together. Those pesky Y seams aren't so bad when the blocks are big.

I sew them together slightly differently than the tutorials I've seen. I sew all the way across the side when sewing the columns together. No back stitch or stopping 1/4" away from the corners. Then, when I'm sewing the Y seams, I leave my needle down in at the corner and just pull the next two sides flat and then sew. I find I don't need to draw dots. I can stop at the seam and eyeball where the 1/4" seam allowance would be. It works so much better for me.

Chubby Chicks Quilt

Here is my Chubby Chicks quilt.

I changed it just a little from original pattern. Colored triangles and no green border.

the little birds are so cute!

Polka dots!

"Flower Girl" by Thimbleblossoms Quilt with a stem!

Finished the Flower Girl quilt that I made with Cathy and Brittany.
It's a Thimbleblossoms pattern but we added a stem.

We started with these fabrics...

and added some reds and bright pinks...

Almost went with the large brown dots. I still like this....a lot.
so hard to decide.

Agonized over it...red or brown....maybe both?
NO.

Echo quilting around the stem.

there's the polka dots...

I thought this was a cute way to machine quilt the flowers in "Flower Girl"

You can see it best on the white...

Pretty!

Sewing Machine Bag

I made a bag to hold my sewing machine when I travel to sew.

It's out of "Social Club" fabric by Moda
the cherries are "Avant Garden"

the flower is out of jumbo ric rac

I just appliqued the baskets on. Way easier than piecing.

Double pocket on this side..

full size pocket on this side to hold rulers. I put some card board in there to protect them.

pockets on the sides to hold lunch and water!

I even put a pocket behind one of the baskets on the outside.
