Takes the Cake by Thimbleblossoms

Don't you just love granny squares? I adore them!
so I really like this Takes the Cake quilt pattern that looks like granny squares. It's taken a while, but I'm finally done!

The fabrics are Vintage picnic and Life is good and various matchy scraps...
It was one of those things you didn't realize
what I was when you picked it up......

you start out with sweet little piles of squares so pleasing to the eye....
by the way, about 1,200 of them!!!

Organize them into the EnTIre quilt..

and sew them into 9 squares and H shaped squares....
each one has to go right next to it's neighbor!...
I got this shot of the organization of putting it together, but I forgot to lay down the single row that goes in between the main rows I layed out here.
If you use your imagination, you can picture what's missing....

Each square was a surprise and a pleasure to see how it came together.

as always....Polka dots!!

Cottage Blossoms with "Little Miss Sunshine" fabric

This quilt was so much fun! I used one of my favorite fabric lines of all time.

                           Little Miss Sunshine fabrics

I did a criss cross in the center of some of the flowers.

...and a quilty shape in the middle of the others.

Log Cabin Quilt

I did a log cabin quilt in red and green. Olive green.

It was fun to play with the colors and different fabrics.

the individual fabrics are sooo pretty. if you can, zoom in and look at them...

My husband decided that a "log cabin" quilt sounded masculine so he took it for his bed. (snoring)
after a while, he said, so I don't get why it's a log cabin... here's why: it's built one block on the next like a log cabin would be starting from the center and working around and around. the blocks look like this if you don't know. :o)

Star Flower Pattern

This quilt pattern is called "Star Flower." It's from square in a square.
I just love the rich colors. The Navy blue is the only actual fabric from square in a square.
I want to say it was "memories of the civil war II"
I chose my own to go with it but it looks very similar to hers.

Yummy!

Here is me and my friends with Jodi Barrows at the Phoenix quilt show Jan. 2018.
That was super fun!
I wish the pic wasn't so blurry,....
we're also working on her "Grizzly Mountain" quilt. I adore it!
So coming soon.....

The flower were quite tricky, so im including some photos of how I did it just for fun.
(I did not use the square in a square method.
I did my own measurements and did an alternate method.
I know.... shocking!)
I sewed 4 triangles onto the sides of the gold colored square. first green then cream.

so they looked like this.
then, you cut them into four as you see in the upper right corner.

then you make some flying geese blocks. also tricky because you have you make half of them opposite each other. but it works out very easily. (I guess I'm not showing the full flying geese method here. oh well)

Here, you can see the two flying geese blocks on the sides and the one that was cut into four pieces. tricky eh?

here is the finished quilt block...with the flowers in the corners.
(The green isn't actually as bright as it appears to be here.)

I found a nice dark red for the back and quilted it pretty...:o)

Pioneer Red and Tan Quilt

Red and Tan Triangles!
I was inspired to do this when I went to Deseret Book and saw the neat pioneer age quilts they sell there. They were all red and tan.

It feels very homey.

I hand stitched it so it would feel more pioneer period.
My goal was to do one row a night while I watched TV with my husband. :o)
Now he REAlly thinks all I do is sew....

Summer Fun by the Quilt Company

This quilt has been so fun!! that's why it's called "Summer Fun"

It was a block of the month pattern by the Quilt Company. My friends and I took about 3 years to finish it. It's very detailed.

Each block was just such a pleasure to fuss over....

the ice cream block!

the strawberry block is to die for...

fireworks...and a 3d pinwheel

I quilted little flowers into it.

if you look close you can see the little flowers I quilted into it here.
polkadots...

I'll bet there are others out there who haven't finished there's yet either. haha

Gorgemous!
