Easy Shabby Chic Texas Star

The Pattern "Sweet Starlet" by Basic Grey inspired me to try the texas star. I choose some gorgeous shabby chic fabrics.

Love these fabrics!

I free motion quilted swirls. pretty pattern...

Here's a bit of a tutorial....
Sew your strips together staggered...

cut on a 45* angle using the 45* line on your ruler lined up with the edge of the fabric.

do this with 3 different strips. assign a number to each of 5 fabrics. 3 is the middle one.
123
234
345

Sew them together being careful to match the corners.

To avoid a difficult Y seam here...

add strips to the bottom of each diamond like so.

the pieces go together like this.

Then like this. with corners added so it's now a square quilt.

Gorgemous!

Butter Churn

I saw this Butter Churn quilt pattern in an American Patchwork and Quilting magazine feb 2013 and just had to make one!

Here's mine. I love it. It's beautiful.

I used an easy construction method... In rows instead of the awkward corners there would have been in  in individual churn dash blocks.

I quilted with a walking foot around each block to define the churn dash blocks better.

and on the diagonal in the middle and on the borders.

Valentines Day....finished "kissing booth" just in the nick of time!

I finished my Valentines quilt just in the nick of time. It's almost Valentines Day!
I started this quilt a few years ago, got frustrated with it and put it away. I was recently inspire to get it out again. It's not so bad....
I was trying to think of something to do with my "Kissing Booth" Valentine Charm Pack by Moda.

I ended up arranging them imitating one of the fabrics in the line....
ON LINEN. love it...

There's some burlap behind the hearts. It got more frayed than I wanted. :P

Fancied it up....

I put a key in one spot...

and a key hole in another....

this is the best part.... the yo-yo's....

lots of buttons, lace, flowers, beads......

String Quilt / Fresh Fabric Treats

I have been working on a string quilt. The fabrics were too different to use large squares of each, but when I put them together in narrow strips, the colors are gorgeous together!

Here is a block under construction. You start with a 10" square and lay each strip wrong side down on top of the last one and keep going til you get to the edge. Then trim the strips off by the original square on the back side.

It's almost more fun to look at the individual blocks.

Most are a mix of turquoise and pink.

Some have a color theme like turquoise and brown.

or pink and green...

Love the surprise mustards and large Polka Dots!

dog scraps in this one... :D

green and turquoise...

red and turquoise...so pretty

that large floral is on the back!

I threw in some browns and reds for color splashes...

all put together!!

Machine quilting some swirls on it with turquoise colored thread !

bound and quilted.
